The finalists for an award ceremony celebrating the hard work of local NHS staff have been announced.

The Shine Awards is the brand new staff awards ceremony for Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, and celebrates the great work of staff across all areas of the Trust, both on the frontline and those behind the scenes.

This is the first year the awards have been held and they have had an amazing response, with over 730 dedicated staff being nominated. The panel of medical staff, nursing staff, governors and patient representatives then had the difficult task of bringing this down to 21 finalists across seven categories.

Those categories include the outstanding team award, the outstanding individual award, partnership award and rising star award.

Clare Panniker, chief executive of the Trust, who was also one of the judges on the panel, said: “After such a challenging period, we’ve had so many of our staff who have gone above and beyond for patients and colleagues. Reading all the nominations fills me with a real sense of pride that our staff uphold our values of being excellent, compassionate and respectful.

“These awards help to shine a light on the amazing work that our staff do, and all those nominated should really proud of their great achievements.”

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Orsett Hall in November.

The awards are being supported by Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity and sponsored by Chelmsford-based company Electrical Solutions Group.
