Anchor Connect

Anchor Connect is our local employment and skills initiative, designed to help people in mid and south Essex find meaningful careers in health and care.

We and the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (MSEICB) have received funding from NHS England to support 100 unemployed or economically inactive residents from Basildon, Southend and Thurrock.

These individuals will get tailored support, training, and up to 20 work placements at local hospitals, giving them valuable experience and helping them take the next step towards employment.

Why this matters

The NHS is often at the heart of local communities. Anchor Connect helps us play a bigger role in supporting economic growth and reducing health inequalities.

By opening up opportunities to people from all backgrounds, especially those in deprived areas, we’re not just improving individual lives—we’re also strengthening the NHS with a more diverse and locally rooted workforce.
