If you are a pupil and are interested in pursuing a career in medicine then we have lots of opportunities for you. Check out what we offer below:

Medical Work Shadowing for years 12 and 13 (16 years or older)

We can offer you a two-to-three-day placement to shadow a doctor so you can gain an insight into the day-to-day activities of doctors and the rest of the healthcare team.

We can only offer placements to pupils applying to study medicine at university who have the appropriate grades/predictive grades that meet the medical school entry criteria.

If you are interested, please get in touch as soon as possible as placements are filled quickly.

Depending on where you would like to have your placement, please contact the local site team:

I would just like to say how thankful I am for having had the opportunity to shadow the doctors in both specialties. I absolutely loved both days and had an amazing time.  Talking to some of the junior doctors has helped me realise that I am capable of achieving my dreams in medicine, so thank you for allowing me to have this opportunity!

Yearly Summer School in Chelmsford (for GCSE/A levels students)

We work with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), to support students interested in medicine through a yearly summer school designed to increase exposure to the medical setting.

The school consists of the following parts:

  • Managing a cardiac arrest – learn how to identify a cardiac arrest and the chain of survival, before demonstrating good chest compressions.
  • Hospital tour – showcase around the hospital and an opportunity to receive smaller group teaching with consultants.
  • Clinical Skills Museum - a passive learning opportunity where the models and equipment used in simulation throughout the academic year are displayed.

The school is always in high demand, so to find out more and to register your interest as early as possible, visit Amplify Your Summer - ARU and complete the application forms on the ARU website.
