Nominations open for shining stars of hospital care
Know an individual or team at your local hospital who deserves recognition for delivering exceptional care to you, a loved one or a friend? Now’s your chance to celebrate them.
Nominations are now open for the sixth annual staff awards of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, the Shine Awards, which recognise the extraordinary work of staff on the frontline and behind the scenes.
Hospital workers from Basildon, Broomfield and Southend hospitals, and those working at the other community hospital sites, can be shortlisted across 10 categories for their continued achievements and commitment to improving patient care.
This year also introduces a brand‑new category: Volunteer of the Year award, celebrating the incredible people who give their time, energy and compassion to the Trust, and recognising the volunteers who make a significant impact on the lives of patients and staff.
Other award categories include Leadership award, Partnership award, Patient Champion award, Rising Star award, Spotlight award, Making a Difference award, Improving Value award, Outstanding Achievement award (individual) and Outstanding Achievement award (team).
Dawn Scrafield, Chief Executive and Head Judge, said:
The Shine Awards capture the heart of who we are. Every single nomination tells a story of passion, dedication, inspiration and extraordinary care and reflects appreciation of what we do.
I can’t wait to see this year’s entries, as they always remind me and the other judges just how exceptional the people working across the Trust truly are, which makes me proud of the work we do to make a difference. These awards always shine a spotlight on some of the amazing work we achieve.
Nominations opened on Thursday 26 February and close at 11.59pm on Sunday 26 April and patients, families, carers, and staff are encouraged to nominate individuals or teams who go above and beyond to improve care and make a real difference.
