Emergency period products are now available free of charge in designated locations across the Trust for staff to use when in need.
Selina Dundas, Acting Chief People Officer, said: “We hope that these products will be helpful for colleagues who have run out of period products while at work. Periods are a normal part of life and providing free period products for emergency situations can make a big difference to our staff’s comfort and wellbeing.”
The new pilot has been funded from a health and wellbeing grant from Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity and in partnership with ethical period care brand TOTM.
A range of organic and sustainably produced tampons and sanitary pads can be found in the following designated locations:
- Basildon Hospital: Ground floor toilet, Education Centre, CTC Level D Training Room toilet, and The Staff Wellbeing Hub.
- Broomfield Hospital: Ground floor toilet, Warner Library and Medical Academic Unit, and The Staff Wellbeing Hub.
- Southend Hospital: Ground floor toilet, Education Centre and The Staff Wellbeing Hub.
Additional provision has been made for colleagues working in theatres, and a supply of products will also be available from our satellite sites.
