Cold cot donation in memory of baby Albie
A couple who suffered baby loss have used that tragedy to raise over £20,000 and help make a difference to other families in the same position.
Basildon Hospital’s Maternity Bereavement Team have welcomed the donation of a cold cot, which is a specialist cot that gives families precious time with their baby when they experience loss.
This cot is one of five gifted to the Trust thanks to the incredible fundraising led by Holly and Lee Gisby, parents of Albie, who died in July 2023.
Holly said: “When we lost Albie, we had never heard of a cold cot, and we are forever grateful we were able to make lasting memories because of one. The bereavement team at Basildon are amazing and we can’t thank them enough for all their support.”
“Knowing we are giving other families the same opportunity we had to spend time with their baby is so comforting and has helped us with our grief.
“Albie will always be part of our family and having his name on the plaques of these cots is so special to us.”
In total, the family have provided an incredible seven cots to six hospitals across the UK, helping families create memories they will cherish forever. They are already working on fundraising for cot number eight.
