Cancer support group receives £1,000 donation

Cadgers, a support group for people with urological cancers, has received £1,000 in funding from Royal Arch Freemasons in Southend.

The team received £500 from members of the Westcliff Chapter who meet at Saxon Hall in Aviation Way, Southend, and a further £500 from the Essex Freemasons Community Fund.

Ann French, lead urology oncology clinical nurse specialist at Southend Hospital, said: “This money will help staff and patients by helping us to provide vital equipment and improve our services. We are hugely grateful to Cadgers and the Royal Arch Masons.”

Nick Franklin, Deputy Grand Superintendent for Essex Royal Arch Freemasons, said: “Our members are very much part of the community, as is our NHS. It is a natural charity to support. Once the members of the Chapter agreed to donate £500 then we were happy to match it.”
