Bereaved parents donate over £5,000 to baby loss suite

A couple from Great Wakering have donated more than £5,000 to a hospital baby loss suite that helped them when their baby died last year.

Sarah Stoneley and THomas Aldcock, the parents of Arnold Adcock, spent three days in the butterfly suite with him after their loss.

The suite is part of the maternity department at Southend Hospital and offers a private space for bereaved families to spend time together after experiencing the loss of their baby.

Sarah said: “Because of the butterfly suite, we were able to spend valuable time with Arnie. As painful as those times were, Tom and I know that we will look back and be grateful for those precious days in a room which became our sanctuary.

“Together with friends and family we have donated this money so the butterfly suite can continue to support families in the worst of times.”

Amanda Cushing, bereavement specialist midwife, thanked Arnold’s parents. “We are so grateful to Tom and Sarah for their generous donation. It will help provide additional support resources and keepsakes needed to help bereaved parents at such a devastating time.”
