Abseil fundraiser is set to be a tower-ing success

Thrill-seeking fundraisers with a head for heights are invited to abseil 154 feet down Southend Hospital’s iconic tower block.

Everyone taking part in Tackle the Tower, which is happening on Saturday 16 May, can raise funds for a chosen ward or department at Southend Hospital, Basildon Hospital or Broomfield Hospital.

The annual event, now in its 11th year, has seen 676 people raise over £270,000 since it began and is open to anyone aged 14 and over, with all equipment needed on the day provided.

Elise Fleetwood, Events and Corporate Relations Manager at Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity, the organisers of the event, said: “The money raised by the brilliant people taking part will make a world of difference and helps us to provide extra services and facilities for our patients, families and staff across our hospitals.

“Whether you love an adrenaline rush or simply want to give back in a meaningful way, this annual challenge offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact.”

Registration costs £50, with a minimum fundraising target of £100, and every penny raised will go directly towards improving hospital services and facilities.

Spaces are still available, but they are expected to fill up fast. Don’t miss your chance to take on this challenge and support the hospitals that provide care for the local community.
