Hospital app supporting patient care up national award
An innovative app for hospital staff, which allows them to spend more time on patient-facing care, has been shortlisted for a national award.
The Trust, along with Diligram, developers of MyStaff App, have been jointly shortlisted for the 'Best Use of Workplace Technology' award at this year’s Nursing Times Workforce Awards.
Introduced in July, MyStaff App has helped staff to access Trust policies, procedures and care guidelines in one convenient place, over 12,000 members of staff regularly access information through the app, making almost 4,000 searches a day on the system.
Available on mobile devices, as well as Trust PCs, the app means staff can quickly access what they need on the go. Projections indicate that the app could release 55,000 hours’ worth of staff time over three years.
Sarah Wellings, Document Control Manager at the Trust, said: “I am delighted that MyStaff app has been shortlisted for this award. The app has played a crucial role in giving our staff access to information much more easily than before, giving clinical colleagues more time to make the most of their clinical skills and contributing to improved patient care. Thanks to our partners at Diligram and the hard work of my team, staff can be assured that when caring for patients they are always looking at the most up-to-date guidance.”
The Nursing Times Workforce Awards winners will be announced later this month, with those shortlisted recognised for the excellent work that is being done by individuals and organisations to support the nursing and midwifery workforce in delivering quality patient care.
The benefits of the app were also showcased at a high-level event at Parliament earlier this month.
